Every fall and late spring, we meet with students to determine their current graduation status, credits taken and credits needed to help students stay on track for graduation. At semester, parents get a letter with their student's current transcript and progress toward graduation. Occasionally students need to go through a credit recovery process to make up a lost credit due to attendance, grades, previous school experience etc. This could look like an online class taken at home or during the school year or just a heavier class load the next year depending on student and parent preference. We use the following worksheets to look at student credits to determine what they need for the upcoming years.
Students fill out an interest survey starting their eighth grade year that helps them determine what they might be interested in. Advisors and I work together with students to help them plan for their future by taking appropriate courses and getting them in touch with the resources they need to take further steps toward their life after high school. We use the CTE career clusters survey and the Education Planner survey below to help kids determine strengths and a career pathway that appeals to what they love to do! Sophomores and Juniors then take the ASVAB test to gain insight on possible skills, strengths and interests for life after high school. Everything is accumulated and explored further during our required 1.0 credit senior project class where students explore their interested field in depth.
