The school and community can't wait for it to get going. Here's the season preview, written by Isaac Kinion and Keagan Spikes of the Eddyville Sports Media class. Check back often for updates on the season.

Head Coach: Leon Buel
Overall Record: 0-0 (1st Season)

Coach Buel, an Eddyville alum, takes the helm for the return of 6-man football here at Eddyville. As a former player here, he has passion from the school and football program at the school. He has also stayed involved in high school sports for years as a referee.

Schedule:
9/1: vs. McKenzie (at Alsea HS)
9/14: @ Triangle Lake
9/21: @ Powers
9/28: vs. Gilchrist
10/5: vs. Jewell
10/12: @ Crow

Players to Watch

Kurt Faxon 6'2" OL/DL
Kurt is the lone senior of the Eddyville squad this season. He has experience at the middle school level, but plenty of size to succeed at the high school level. He'll be counted on to be a force on both lines. Look for Kurt to be one of the leaders of the group, as he has been on the basketball and cross country teams at the school for the past three seasons.

Brier Rariden 5'9" FB/DB
Brier is one of the few sophomores on the team. He comes from Wisconsin where he used to be a dominant hockey player, which shows he isn't afraid of a little contact. He also played football 4th-8th grade year, so he has a great amount of experience on the field.

Wayne Nephew 6'0" QB/DE
Wayne Nephew is a quarterback in training; we have high expectations of this young freshman. He is a football veteran with an exceptional football IQ. This IQ should help him make good decisions at the quarterback position. He is also an aggressive player on the defensive side.

We'll see how these three do, as well as the rest of the team this upcoming season.

Unique Rules of 6-Man Football
  • 15-yard first downs
  • All six offensive players are eligible to catch a pass
  • The player who takes the snap can't run the ball
  • Quarters are 10 minutes long
