Eddyville just recently had their first football game after years of not having one. It was at Alsea High school. Both schools decided to meet up at Alsea. Mckenzie was the rivaling opponents against the Eagles. Mckenzie had some questionable hits to the helmet injuring a couple of Eddyvilles players. Jace Richards (Lineman), and Wayne Nephew (Snap Back) were held out for most of the second half, hurting the team’s depth.

The game started in McKenzie’s favor and continued that way for all of the game. The score at halftime was 40-0 and the final score was 74-0. Even as McKenzie continued to score, Eddyville continued to put forth maximum effort.

For statistics Brier Rariden ran the ball 13 times for 23 yards, Kurt Faxon additionally ran the ball 6 times for 14yrds. On the receiving end, Kurt Faxon went 3 catches for 20 yards and Payton Rockmore had 2 catches for 6 yards. Multiple quarterbacks making 10/15 passes for 17 yards, 1 interception. For tackles Payton had 4, leading the team. There were multiple positive plays for Eddyville. Wayne Nephew returned a kickoff 23 yards to the McKenzie 15 yard line. Payton Rockmore also had a tackle in the backfield and stripped the runner of the football. He recovered the fumble as well, which gave Eddyville the ball back.

Eddyville will look for a bounce back performance in two weeks when they travel to Triangle Lake for their next game. Eddyville will get some reinforcements to their squad as three more members will be joining the team. After two weeks of practice, it will be interesting to see what the team can do.
