NFL Divisional Playoff Predictions

1/10/2019

After a crazy Wild Card weekend, the sports media class is here to share their NFL Divisional Round predictions.
 Colts @ Chiefs
1/12/19
1:35 PM

  • Max: I think the Chiefs are going to win, even though they’ve been struggling lately, I think they are overall just the better and more dominant team. My prediction of the score is 21-10.
  • Jace: I think the Colts are going to win because they have one of the best defenses. My prediction of the score is 35-21 Colts to send the Chiefs back to their couches.
  • Keagan: I believe the Colts are going to win because the Chiefs are losing a big player, Kareem Hunt. He was their leading running back that did a great amount for the team. But due to him being kicked off the team, they are missing a big part of their line up. Prediction of the score, 32-28.
  • Isaac: The Kansas City Chiefs have been hot this year and they won’t be slowing down. Although they ended the regular season a little shaky, winning only three of the last six, they still held the number one seed in their division. Patrick Mahomes has had an outstanding season and is the favorite for MVP. A point for the Colts, is the fact that the Chiefs haven’t been the same team without their running back Kareem Hunt. The consistent offense of Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs will dismantle the Colts defense and win 38-24.
  • Ulstad: Colts are going to take this one. The Chiefs seem to find ways to falter in the playoffs year after year, and they’re slumping coming into this game. Andrew Luck comes into a hostile environment and leads his team to a 30-21 win.

Cowboys @ Rams
1/12/19
5:15 PM

  • Jace: I think the Cowboys are going to take this one. I think this because they are America’s team, and they are rolling coming into the playoffs. Ezekiel Elliott could run right through the Rams defense who has struggled this year. Cowboy’s win 32-27.
  • Keagan: I believe the Rams are going to take this win. Their offense is basically unstoppable with Todd Gurley II running all over the place and Jared Goff with some great passes this season. 34-30.
  • Isaac: The Cowboys have impressed me a lot as of late with their consistent ability to win games down the stretch. I’ve also seen the Rams struggle a lot at the end of the season despite having one of the best records in the NFL. The Rams aren’t the same team they started the season as and the cowboys are looking better everyday. Dallas defense has looked solid to backup Dak and Ezekiel on offense and they will win 27-14.
  • Max:I believe the Rams are going to win because they have a very top tier offense and even with the Cowboys defense, I think the Rams are gonna run all over them with Todd Gurley. Jared Goff is going to get a lot of yards to there elite wide receiver, Brandin Cooks. Score, 49-20
  • Ulstad: The Rams have been as good as any team this season, and that shouldn’t change in the playoffs. Their talented defense has underperformed this year, but should be ready to come after Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Rams win 41-20 as Gurley runs wild and the defense steps up.

Chargers @ Patriots
1/13/19
10:05 AM

  • Keagan: Patriots are going to take this one because Tom Brady is the legend himself. He is getting older, having 41 years of ago. But i don't think that is going to stop him. He is a dominant QB with Chris Hogan, and Rob Gronkowski having great hands to receive the ball. Patriots win 34-27.
  • Isaac: Tom Brady is getting older but he is one of the greatest players of all time and it’s hard to bet against that. The Patriots Landed themselves at a third seed this year despite being criticized hard early on. It feels as though people want them too not dominate this year because of past success, but they will pull through and land at least one playoff win. Phillip Rivers will not play up to his regular season play and lose the game 35-24.
  • Max: I think that the Chargers are gonna win because, they have recently been playing dominant. I also think the chargers are gonna make it to the super bowl based on recent  performance. The score of the game is gonna be 39-24.
  • Jace: Chargers will win this one because I hate the Patriots. Or should I say, the Deflate-riots. The Chargers are the most complete team in the playoffs, in my opinion, and should win this one on the road. Chargers win 34-24.
  • Ulstad: This is Phillip Rivers’ year. The 37 year old, motivated by his quest for his first title, has been rolling with Melvin Gordon behind him at running back, and Keenan Allen out wide. The Patriots are always scary come playoff time, so this one should be close. Look for this to come down to a big Phillip Rivers game-winning drive. Chargers win 31-30.
------

Eagles @ Saints
1/13/19
1:25 PM

  • Isaac: The New Orleans Saints have the best record in the NFL and have proven themselves throughout the year. Drew Brees has multiple NFL records as a quarterback and is very experienced in his position. They are the most solid team in the league this year and will win this game handly. The Eagles barely won their wild card game and it feels like they shouldn’t even be in this position. The Saints will roll over the Eagles for a 42-17.
  • Max: I believe that the saints are going to win because the Eagles barely squeaked by against the Bears, and the Saints are gonna take it to them. Score, 24-6.
  • Jace: Saints should win this one. Being at home in a loud stadium, the Eagles won’t be able to keep up. This one won’t be close. Saints win 32-11 and cruise easily into the NFC title game.
  • Keagan: The Eagles got really lucky with the win over the Bears last weekend, but i still think they have what it takes to continue on their streak against the Saints. Saints are doing great but the Eagles have what it takes to take the win with a 21-7.
  • Ulstad: The Eagles are a lucky bounce off the goal post away from watching this game from their couches. The Saints, led by 39-year old Drew Brees and their high-powered offense, should have no problem with this one. Look for Alvin Kamara to run wild and Michael Thomas to make some big plays and Foles’ run ends in what is likely his last game with the Eagles. Saints win easily, 38-17.
